About Texas Competitive Power Advocates
Who We Are
- TCPA is a trade association representing power generators, wholesale power marketers and retail providers with business in the Texas and ERCOT wholesale and retail electric markets.
- TCPA is dedicated to supporting and promoting competitive wholesale and retail markets that ensure ample, reliable and affordable electricity to Texas consumers.
- TCPA hopes to maintain mutually beneficial and substantive communications with legislators, PUC Commissioners, staff and other market participants on issues affecting competition in Texas’ electric markets.
- TCPA members have made substantial business investments in Texas because of both national and state deregulation of energy markets – from PURPA to wholesale deregulation to retail deregulation in SB 7.

- Employ more than 5,302 Texans.
- Represent more than $16 billion of investment in the state.
- Provide a combined 185 years of experience in the Texas market.
- Perform, through their affiliates, a wide range of market and customer functions in ERCOT as generators, qualified scheduling entities, wholesale electric providers, energy management service providers and retail electric providers.
